Skara Brae

Orkney's Neolithic goes digital

Garphill Games' Skara Brae arrives on Board Game Arena. Discover how the digital adaptation will allow you to test Macdonald and Phillips' mechanics through alpha and beta testing.

Fans of Garphill Games' strategy games have another reason to celebrate. It's been confirmed that Skara Brae, the title created by the proven duo of SJ Macdonald and Shem Phillips, is coming to the Board Game Arena platform. The game transports players to the Neolithic Orkney Islands, challenging them to manage scarce resources and build a prosperous settlement through tile placement and set collection. Entry into the BGA catalog follows a very specific technical protocol, crucial to the final quality of the software. The title will first enter the Alpha phase, accessible to a small group of selected testers to identify programming errors, before moving on to Beta. In this second stage, usually open to Premium users first, the broader community contributes to refining the user experience and graphical interface. Having a digital version of a Eurogame of this caliber is essential: it allows newcomers to learn the game flow thanks to automated scripts and veterans to challenge global opponents, completely eliminating the setup times of the physical counterpart.
