🏯 The White Castle Duel – Honor, Silence, and Strategy Within the Walls of Himeji

Two clans, one castle: the new two-player challenge of Shei & Isra , illustrated by Joan Guardiet

The wind blows beyond the walls of Himeji Castle , and in the silence of the tatami every gesture weighs as much as a word. The White Castle Duel is the new 2-player board game from Devir's most elegant authorial duo: Shei Santos and Isra Cendrero (authors of The Red Cathedral ), who return to feudal Japan with a duel of pure strategy and composure.

🌸 The era of the daimyo and the breath of ancient Japan

16th century: Japan opens its ports to Portuguese merchants, and with them arrive gunpowder, sugar, and silk. Daimyo compete to control foreign trade and technology, while Himeji Castle becomes a symbol of power and diplomacy. In this climate suspended between tradition and innovation, two rival clans face each other to gain the favor of the daimyo, in a duel that rewards planning over strength.

🕯️ The Lantern Dance – A Duel of Light and Influence

Every shift is a ritual. You will place your colored lanterns on castle tiles to trigger actions, obtain resources, and gain influence in the Daimyo's court. But be careful: every lantern that lights up the palace also reveals your strategy.

The core mechanic is a combination of alternating placement and gathering : in the first half of the game you place lanterns to light opportunities, in the second you take them back to activate rewards and close circles of power. A flow of action and reaction that transforms every move into an act of Zen balancing.

⚔️ The subtle art of influence

The duel is not a direct fight, but a war of presence and prestige . Acquire influence cards, place clan seals in gardens and training grounds, Trade with the Portuguese and climb the social ladder to get closer to the Daimyo. Each area of the board is a door that opens to a different type of power: economic, military, or symbolic.

The tension builds move after move, and as the second round comes to an end, all that remains is the silence of the tatami and the final calculation: who illuminated the Himeji court best?

🎎 A duel of elegance and silence

The White Castle Duel is a game of respect, strategy, and unspoken glances. An experience for two sharp minds who find peace in long thinking, in the beauty of planning and the precision of detail. Perfect for those who love games like The Red Cathedral or Iki , and seeks a new balance between tension and grace.
