The FroGames card
Choose three tiles from the central area. Stack them to create elevations. Complete a pattern and place a deer. Then look at the board and realize you've just built a valley you didn't know you were designing.
WHAT IT IS
A nature puzzle where you build ecosystems and populate habitats
Johan Benvenuto (designer) and Maëva da Silva (illustrations) bring an abstract puzzle dressed in an environmental theme to Libellud. Released in 2024, Harmonies is a demonstration of how simple mechanics can generate interesting decisions without weighing down the table.
Each turn you choose three colored terrain tiles from the common area, place them on your personal board (even stacking them to create elevations), and if you complete the patterns required by your Animal cards you can place fauna cubes. The player who builds the most harmonious and populated landscape wins. The game flows quickly, the rules are explained in 10 minutes, but the combinations are endless.
What they say abroad
"A delightful puzzle where every choice reshapes your landscape in unexpected ways."

— Meeple Mountain
Harmonies takes half an hour to play but leaves you wanting to play again immediately. It is rare to find a puzzle that is so immediate and so deep at the same time.

Harmonies
The game includes official solo rules, where you compete against yourself for the highest score. The experience is complete: draft, building, pattern matching work identically. The only thing missing is the competition for the best tiles, but it remains an excellent puzzle for a quiet evening.
What you find in the box
The components that build your landscapes
Terrain Tiles
Colored hexagons (mountain, forest, field, meadow, water) that you draft and place on the board. You can stack them to create multi-level elevations and unlock vertical patterns.
Animal Cards
Each card shows a terrain pattern to complete on your board. When you create it, you place an animal cube. The more you complete, the more points you earn. Limit of 4 cards in hand.
Nature Spirit Cards (optional)
Advanced variant: each player chooses a Spirit with a pattern to complete. Once activated, the Spirit grants a permanent effect that changes your way of playing.
Personal board
Your play area, where you build the landscape. It starts empty and fills up turn after turn. Elevations give bonus points, but only if adjacent to at least one other elevation.

🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each turn
Each turn has three simple and quick phases. After a few rounds, it becomes automatic.
Take one of the 9 available sets from the central area. Each set contains 3 colored terrain tiles (mountain, forest, field, meadow, water). You cannot split the set.
Place the 3 tiles on your personal board, respecting the hexagonal grid. You can overlap them to create multi-level terrain. Terrain features earn bonus points if adjacent to other terrain features.
If you want to (and have fewer than 4 cards in hand), draw a new Animal card from the common deck. Each card shows a pattern to complete on your board.
If you have completed one or more patterns from your Animal cards, place the corresponding cubes on the patterns. Each card has a limited number of cubes: when you run out, the card is set aside and counts toward the final score.
⏱️Your first gameThe play-by-play, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Setup and first cards
You draw the first two Animal cards, choosing which patterns to try to complete. The central area fills with 9 sets of tiles. Someone starts planning, someone chooses randomly. No one yet knows what shape their board will take.
First overlaps
You start overlapping tiles to create multi-level mountains. The first terrain feature is worth nothing if isolated, but you already have in mind where to put a second one. The others look at your board and understand what you are building.
Patterns completed
You place the first animal cube on a completed pattern. The satisfaction is immediate. Then you look at the other three cards in hand and realize that pattern also covers part of another: double points with one move.
Competitive draft
Someone takes the only set with the forest tiles you needed. You have to fall back on plan B, but discover it opens a path you hadn't seen. The puzzle adapts, it never really blocks you.
Final count
The bag is empty or someone has filled the board. Points are counted: placed animals, adjacent terrain features, completed cards. Someone wins by a cube, but everyone wants to play again immediately with different cards.

Pattern learning curve
For the first few games, you spend time deciphering the patterns on the Animal cards: what terrain is needed, how to arrange it. After 2-3 games it becomes automatic, but at first it slows you down a bit. It's not a flaw of the game, it's physiological.
Luck of the draw
The bag determines which tiles come out in the central area. Sometimes you find what you're looking for, sometimes you don't. You always have 9 sets to choose from, but if everyone draws forests and you need them, you have to adapt. The draft mitigates, but does not eliminate.
Indirect interaction
You don't attack opponents, you don't directly ruin their plans. You only compete for the best tiles. If you're looking for direct confrontation, table tension or bluffing, Harmonies doesn't offer that. It's a competitive puzzle, not a duel.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the end rewards▼
How it ends
How to win
The game ends when the bag is empty or at least one player has filled almost their entire board (2 or fewer empty spaces). Everyone completes their turn, then points are counted.
Final score
- Each placed Animal cube is worth points (the value varies by animal type)
- Terrain features (overlapping tiles) give bonus points if adjacent to at least one other terrain feature. The higher the terrain feature, the more points it's worth
- Completed Animal cards (all cubes placed) give bonus points based on the highest number revealed on the card
What costs you points
- Isolated terrain features (not adjacent to other terrain features) are worth zero points, even if high
- Animal cards with cubes still available (not placed) do not give the final bonus
- Empty spaces on the board do not give penalties, but represent missed opportunities
Harmonies is an accessible but never trivial puzzle, perfect for families and casual players who want something more satisfying than a filler. Replayability is very high, setup is very fast, and it works very well in solo mode too. Weight 2.0/5, ideal as a gateway game for families and casual players. Italian edition by Asmodee available on frogames.business.

FAQ on Harmonies
What mechanics does Harmonies use?
Harmonies uses tile placement, pattern building, open drafting (open choice from a common pool) and set collection. The advanced variant adds variable player powers via the Nature Spirit cards.
Is it suitable for someone who never plays board games?
Yes. The rules can be explained in 10 minutes, the iconography is clear, there are no complex exceptions. It's an excellent gateway game: simple enough for beginners, deep enough for those who want to optimize. Perfect for families or mixed game nights.
How long does a game really take?
With experienced players, exactly 30 minutes. The first game or one with 4 new players can take up to 45 minutes. The game flows quickly because turns are fast and there are no long waiting phases. In solo mode, 20-25 minutes.
Do the Nature Spirit cards change the game a lot?
Yes, but they don't overhaul it. They add a bonus pattern to complete and a permanent effect once activated. They increase variety without adding bulk. We recommend using them from the third game onwards, when you have a good grasp of the basic animal patterns.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes, the Italian edition by Asmodee includes the rulebook, cards, and all translated material. The game still has a strong visual component (iconographic patterns), so language has little impact on gameplay once you've learned the rules.
The people behind the game
Who invented it, who designed it, who publishes it — and what else they have done.
Harmonies is a tile placement and pattern building board game for 1-4 players, designed by Johan Benvenuto and illustrated by Maëva da Silva, published by Libellud in 2024. Each game lasts 30-45 minutes, recommended age 10+. Players build natural landscapes by choosing colored tiles from a common area, placing them on their personal board (even overlapping them to create terrain features), and populating them with animals by completing specific patterns shown on the cards. The game also works very well in solo mode thanks to dedicated official rules. Weight 2.0/5, ideal as a gateway game for families and casual players.
